Enjoy a variety of experiences with this small group (maximum 4 guests) tour to explore the magnificent wildlife of the Otago Peninsula.
Your day starts with a scenic drive across the high road to the remote face of the Otago Peninsula where the tidal inlets, depending on the season and tides, play host to a bounty of birdlife. Pied stilt, white faced heron, oyster catchers, spoonbill and Arctic waders are the usual suspects here. There is opportunity for a hike through regenerating bush and the chance to play your own part in the ongoing conservation of this beautiful region by planting a native tree. If the weather is kind a picnic lunch can be enjoyed at a stunning lookout which offers exceptional coastal panoramas. After lunch your tour continues further along the peninsula to the only mainland breeding colony of the northern royal albatross, you have the choice of a guided tour of the Taiaroa Head colony or a one hour guided cruise aboard the M.V. Monarch so see these majestic birds in flight. Lunch and all entrance fees are included.
The following tour can only be booked in conjunction with the Peninsula Excursion:
