Description

Leaving the city behind, explore the varied landscapes of Iceland's West Coast with its lava formations, geothermal activity and extraordinary nature, with uninhabited birds being the main residents. Snaefellsness peninsula and the sea cliffs of Arnastapi are home to thousands of kittiwakes, whilst further round the coast are important nesting grounds for Arctic terns.

Beyond lies Breidafjordur Bay, dotted with islands through which you will sail on board the ferry Baldur. You are now in the heart of the remote northwest and should visit the millions of puffins, gannets, guillemots and razorbills nesting on the towering sea cliffs of Latrabjarg.

As you explore the Westfjords you'll discover thermal bathing springs in the very heart of nature, thundering waterfalls and charming fishing villages boasting their own Saga folklore and history. Perhaps take a kayak out on the fjords or even a boat trip across to Isafjordarup to the final glaciated peninsula of the region.

Finally return via Borgarfjordur to Reykjavik before flying home.
