Just a short flight from San Jose brings you to Panama City. From here it is around a 2 - 3 hour transfer southwest to the Anton Valley where you will stay at an elevated altitude for 3 nights in the cloudforest at Canopy Lodge. For bird watchers and nature lovers this is an excellent location with many new species likely to be seen. For non-birders there are a variety of activities from zip wires to mountain biking and horse riding. There are also thermal baths nearby and a small village to explore.
Return to Panama City and not so far beyond the modern city you will find the award winning Canopy Tower located on a ridge high in Soberania National Park. With splendid views into the forest canopy the tower is aptly named. Bird life is prolific here and time with guides is likely to be spent walking the trails, that is when you are not observing wildlife from the lodge itself! There are also possibilities to visit Barro Colorado Island that has been intensively studied since isolation with the formation of the Panama Canal. With the Canopy Tower so close to the airport it is ideal as a departure point for your next destination.
