Short on time but want to see as much as possible of this small country? Our Costa Rica Express short break holiday brings you plenty of adventures: hiking, mountain biking, white water rafting and beach plus a scenic flight in just one week away.
You will wake up to the start of your week in the Costa Rican countryside among coffee plantations and with views to volcanic mountain forests. Here you will spend your first 3 nights. We'll take you down river for the thrill of white-water rafting and seeking out wildlife in the enclosing forest. You will also discover the nocturnal wildlife on a guided night hike. Nearby Irazu volcano, the highest in Costa Rica at over 3400m, is a must to see the crater lakes and to enjoy terrific views, which on a clear day can mean you see both the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. A highlight can be your long descent by mountain bike along trails down its slopes back to the Turrialba Valley. During the descent the vegetation and agriculture changes with elevation.
The next morning a scenic flight over the Cordillera de Talamanca mountains brings you down to the Corcovado region and a lovely eco-lodge with its own private beach reached only by boat. Here you will spend the next few days beside the ocean, yet deep in totally wild rainforest. A whole range of activities are possible here or you can just relax.
Reluctantly leaving this green and blue paradise, take the flight back to San Jose but you will not be disappointed as a short transfer takes you to a beautiful private cloudforest reserve and a small boutique hotel. There is time to explore this protected area before enjoying a final dinner. The next day you will depart with a head full of experiences from stunning Costa Rica.
