Mchenja Camp

Mchenja Camp is a lovely safari camp, a touch of refined luxury in the heart of the African bush. This small camp lies in the northern sector of South Luangwa National Park on the banks of the Luangwa River under ebony trees and is ideally located in a phenomenally wildlife rich area. With just 5 wonderful suites this tented camp is a great safari destination. The suites, including one family suite, exude style and a lovely touch of luxury in a wilderness setting, exemplified by having your own claw-foot bath overlooking the river. Each room has also has an outdoor bathroom with shower, basin and flushing toilet. Mchenja also has a small swimming pool, which in the dry season is a blessing, although you may have to yield to thirsty elephants from time to time!

This is the most luxurious of Norman Carr Safaris bush camps and as you would expect from such an established safari company, highly professional. However, Mchenja Camp is not pretentious but rather offers a true, authentic safari experience. Staff, guiding and cuisine are all very good and there is an overall relaxed safari atmosphere. The camp combines well for a stay either with the luxury of Chinzombo near Mfuwe Gate or at the end of a walking safari between camps such as Luwi, Nsolo & Kakuli.
