Konkamoya Lodge

Konkamoya is a small tented-camp in the wilds of Kafue National Park and the only place to stay beside stunning Lake Itezhi-Tezhi. This great little camp has just 4, large en-suite tents well-spaced along the lake shore catering for just 8 persons. There is an open plan dining lapa as well as an elevated bar - lounge area for catching the afternoon breeze.

Run & managed by evolutionary biologist, Andrea Porro, this camp is his passion and you can gain a terrific insight into the wildlife of the area if he accompanies you and his guides on safari. As an Italian you can expect excellent Italian cuisine in the heart of bush and it is delicious!

This camp in the southern sector of Kafue is remote and gives the true taste of the vast surrounding wilderness. It is purposely small so that guests are intimately in touch with the surrounding nature. Indeed the wildlife literally can come through camp. During our stay we experienced herds of elephant around 100 strong, lions and of course many puku among other wildlife. Wild dog, cheetah and eland are also seen in the area. Aardvark are reputedly often seen here, with up to a 90% success rate of seeing them over a 3 night stay. Bird watching is good due to the vicinity of water and a mix of lakeside grassland, bush country and woodland. Importantly, safari activities are really tailored to your own interests and as such there is no fixed schedule of activities.

We would highly recommend including Konkamoya in a tailor made safari to anyone wanting to get off the beaten track to explore a delightful part of the Kafue. Konkamoya is accessible from Lusaka or Victoria Falls and fits nicely with Nanzhila Plains Camp to the south and KaingU Safari Lodge, Ila Lodge or Fig Tree Camp several hours to the north.
