In the far north of Uganda lies Kidepo Valley National Park, completely remote from the main safari circuits through Uganda. Outside of the rainy seasons this arid land is very different from much of the rest of the country with dry open savannah grasslands dotted with rocky kopjes and backing up to distant mountain ranges . It is a special reserve and as such a good number of species, such as cheetah and kudu, that can only be found here whilst on safari in Uganda. The park is best reached by a scheduled or chartered light aircraft flight from Entebbe.
Apoka Safari Lodge is the only lodge within Kidepo National Park and is very comfortably furnished to a high standard. The 10 large thatched cottages have a subtle African theme, a consequence of the hands of local craftsmen. Each has an en suite bathroom with large showerhead and outside a huge bathtub on the screened terrace.
The main area is also under thatch and is sited slightly further up the hill from the cottages to give splendid vistas. Out front of the main lodge is a large swimming pool, perfect to relaxing after a game drive.
