Formerly known as Selous Safari Camp, Siwandu is one of the more luxurious camps in the Selous, in a classic safari style; and the standard of service, guiding and activities reflects this. It is wonderfully positioned among woodland on Lake Nzerakera close to the Rufiji River which passes through the enormous Selous Game Reserve.
Each of the 13 tents faces out with views of the lake and they are split effectively between 2 camps, North and South, comprising 6 and 7 tents respectively. This works well in providing a small camp feel and the facilities in both camps are similar. Both have pools to enjoy in the heat of the day, bars, dining areas and kitchens and thus are 2 separate camps. This ensures your experience is more personal and you are not an unknown guest in a large lodge; this is to be highly commended.
Furthermore, out on safari too each camp has its own boats and vehicles. There is abundant birdlife around the lake and of course it attracts wildlife too. Elephant and wild dog are common encounters among the game. Morning walks with armed guides are arranged to seek out the smaller elements that make up the surrounding ecosystem and for those looking for greater adventure then overnight walking safaris are possible too.
