The Farm at Cape Kidnappers started life, as the name suggests, as a working sheep station and the design and build of this luxury lodge reflects this heritage perfectly. Set on over 6,000 acres the Farm at Cape Kidnappers has evolved into one of New Zealand's most acclaimed and iconic lodges, lauded around the world.
Accommodation choices include the hilltop suites, positioned high on the hill above the lodge these spacious suites offer spectacular views over the farm and Pacific Ocean. The ridge suites, which are a little closer to the main lodge are set on a skyline ridge and the lodge suites that have the convenience of being located within the lodge building are the largest of the suites. All are beautifully appointed with full stocked complimentary mini bar, spacious bathrooms with soaking bath tubs and that all important view. Your lodge experience includes pre-dinner drinks and canapés, a la carte dinner, full breakfast and use of all lodge facilities. Gentlemen are required to wear a jacket for dinner however the lodge have a selection in reception for use should you prefer not to take one on your travels. Private dining can also be arranged in the snug, library or wine cellar.
As you would expect from a lodge of this calibre there is an extensive menu of activities for your enjoyment. Perhaps try your hand at clay pigeon shooting on the cliff top with the Pacific Ocean as your backdrop and no visit is complete without a tour of the sheep and cattle station. You can choose the comfort of four-wheel drive or if you are more adventurous explore by quad bike. Cape Kidnappers is also home to the largest, most accessible mainland gannet colony in the world and the 20,000 gannets at the cape are members of the Booby family with their distinctive black eye markings and gold crown, due to the migratory nature of the birds this tour is available between September and May. There are also a number of walking trails through the property, trail maps are provided or guided walks can be arranged. The Cape Kidnappers also has a challenging par 71 golf course.
Hawkes Bay is a beautiful region to explore and in addition to the attractions of the lodge there are a wealth of excursions that can also be arranged for you. Scenic flights, Maori heritage tours, hot air ballooning, river kayaking and sensational food and wine tours are all available.
