This 9 suite fort was built from scratch in the desert of Rohet district where the colourful Bishnoi peoples and Raikas herdsmen make their home. It is an outstandingly beautiful construction, intimate, homely, considered, elegant and opulent with views that drink in the expansive desert landscape.

Each suite, either on the ground floor or first floor has a private plunge pool or Jacuzzi respectively, although of course there is a main infinity pool that looks out over the desert scrubland. Each suite is unique in character and design with much traditional craftsmanship was well as modern amenities including air conditioning and flat screen TV's.

Reached down a rough track, Mihir Garh is within striking distance of Jodhpur but a total contrast of serenity compared to the bustling city. It sits beautifully as a comfortable oasis in the wilderness. Bird watching in the winter months is very good in this area and for nature enthusiasts it is a perfect halt. The world's fastest antelope, blackbuck inhabit the region and have been protected for centuries by the local Bishnoi, there are chances to go out and look for them and other wildlife. Walks locally can be arranged but horse riding is a feature of the hotel. The best Marwari horses are kept here and day excursions to multi-day expeditions can be undertaken with guides, indeed you can horse trek from lodge to lodge from here.

Mihir Garh fits perfectly between the blue city of Jodhpur and the splendour of Jawai Leopard Camp or Udaipur, although after a stay here you may not want to leave!
